Compeer of Chatauqua County

The word Compeer means “friend,” “equal” or “peer”—not mental health professional, social worker, or caretaker.

A time-honored concept, friendship makes the likelihood of recovery through community connections real. Compeer friendships have been helping individuals to live happier, healthier lives since 1985.

The rewards are many when you volunteer for Compeer. Volunteers meet with their friends on a regular basis to share activities they both enjoy. We are always looking for volunteers, and have many people on our waitlist needing a friend!
